Sports Science Support Officer

Dr Richard McCann is the Sport Science Support Officer and joined SINI on the 1st of September 2008. Richard holds a BSc (Hons) and Diploma in Industrial Studies from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown. Richard also has a PHD in Surface Science and Biomedical Engineering from Thin Films Research Group, Northern Ireland Bio-Engineering Centre (NIBEC), School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ulster at Jordanstown.
Richard is a professional member of Bases (British Association of Sports Exercise Science) he has his ISAK accredited level 1 and is a UKSCA member, level 1 accreditation.
Richard is interested in physiological and anthropometric profiling of elite Irish handball players and physiological monitoring of elite triathletes and cyclists.
