Athlete Update

Several local athletes who receive services from the Sports Institute Northern Ireland have experienced recent success:
- Congratulations to swimmer Sycerika McMahon who set a new Irish Junior 100m Breaststroke record time of 1:09.91 at the World Championships in Shanghai.

The Portaferry teenager’s achievement comes just weeks after her three-medal haul at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade, where she won two Golds, a Silver and set a new Irish Senior record time in the 50m breaststroke.
- Athlete Ciara Mageean has won Silver in the final of the 1500m at the European Championships in Estonia.
