Ciara Mageean Finishes 7th at European Championships

Sports Institute Northern Ireland (SINI) Athlete Ciara Mageean has finished 7^th at the European Cross Country Championships in Albufeira, Portugal.

The 18 year old made remarkable progress during the race, recovering from a slow start to get up to 10th place going out the last lap, before pushing up to seventh place at the finish.

Ciara noted that in spite of the strong finish she was disappointed with the result:

“I wish I had gone up closer at the start, but you learn from these things” she said. “And I always have next year to improve further.” Mageean will be eligible for the junior race again next year in these championships.
