Perry into last 16 in Hong Kong

Madeline Perry has booked her place in the last 16 of the Hong Kong Open.

The Banbridge woman took just over 30 minutes to overcome England's Lauren Briggs 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 in her first-round game on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old world number seven now meets Australia's Donna Urquhart in the second round on Thursday.

If she makes it through to the quarter- finals she will face Rachael Grinham, who defeated her in the recent British Open final in Manchester.
