SINI Athlete Lisa Kearney Takes Silver at Judo World Cup

Sports Institute Northern Ireland athlete and Belfast judo star Lisa Kearney won a Silver medal today at the 2010 World Cup in San Salvador in the 48kg class.

Lisa lost a very close final contest against the 2008 Beijing Olympic Bronze medallist Pareto of Argentina.

The fight was level with 5 seconds to go when Lisa was given a penalty for passivity.

Lisa's coach Ciaran Ward had this to say, "This result together with last weeks 5th place (Venezuela) and a 7th place in May's World Cup (Egypt) places Lisa well inside the Olympic Qualifying standard of Top 14 in the World."
