INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION
The Performance Nutritionist works individually with athletes to develop a program tailored to their needs.
Training and competition requirements, nutritional intake, body composition, medical problems or nutritional deficiencies are assessed during the initial consultation. The nutritionist provides feedback, guidance and develops strategies with the athlete to improve their dietary intake and performance. Ongoing follow-up is then provided as required. The athletes’ priorities are communicated within the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate and maintain change in athletes.
GROUP PRESENTATIONS
Regular presentations are provided to SINI athlete groups. These presentations are tailored to the requirements of the group and often include information about adequate fuelling for training, recovery nutrition to improve adaptation, competition eating, guidance on eating out and eating on the road.
Group interaction and activities are included in these workshops to keep them interesting and relevant for participants.
Practical skills workshops, practical nutrition education and training is an important component of Performance Nutrition. Combined with support from Performance Lifestyle athletes are taught strategies to manage a busy lifestyle. These workshops help develop practical cooking and shopping skills to make sure athletes have the ability, time and organisational skills to access appropriate food and fluids. Workshops are conducted in small groups or individually.
TEAM TRAVEL
The majority of SINI athletes spend large periods of time travelling for competition or training camps. SINI Performance Nutrition provides support and education for athletes to help them meet their nutritional goals while away from home. This includes guidance on food safety and hygiene, food availability abroad, tips on eating in restaurants and hotels, lists of useful foods to pack and food availability at destination.
Menu planning at hotels/restaurants and organisation of food travel packs can also be arranged for SINI supported teams.
