STRENGTH & CONDITIONING IN SINI

SINI Strength and Conditioning coaches plan and implement programmes that prepare athletes for World Class Competition and assist in achieving their performance targets. This is based around an athlete-centred coaching philosophy of Long Term Athlete Development, Physical Competency and Athletic Development. Central to this, every session is overseen by S&C coaches who are UKSCA Accredited with the commitment to deliver quality coaching. Programmes will include aspects such as Strength, Speed, Agility, Flexibility, Injury Prevention and Endurance, in and out of the gym environment.

INTEGRATION WITH SERVICES

Within SINI, S&C collaborate with all service providers, coaches and performance managers to provide each athlete an individual programme that integrates each area’s expertise to benefit the athlete. After an initial service team needs analysis and then through regular athlete review and action meetings, all aspects of S&C programming are fully integrated with other service providers, especially with the Physiotherapy Unit.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Research within the Strength and Conditioning department aims to further progress the service delivered to its athletes and develop a cutting edge research group, investigating new and revised theories in the area of Strength training and Conditioning.

The development of research is very much applied driven and always looking towards performance enhancement of SINI athletes.

Working in a multi-disciplinary environment gives us the added benefit of using other service providers’ expertise in the development of initiatives, either in collaboration with or parallel to their own research aims and objectives. This includes Physiology, Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine and Nutrition.

With the development of Visual Coaching as our exclusive programming software package and it’s monitoring and programming capabilities, the scope of our research and delivery to athletes can be further enhanced and take on a focus for our data collection.

Some of the areas that are being investigated currently are;

  • Overtraining Markers, Fatigue Indicators and Intervention Strategies
  • Recovery Methods and Prescription in planning
  • Strength Profiling of Athletes
  • Strength Profiling Analysis and Programming Considerations
  • Physical Competency – Athletic Performance

To provide consistent podium performances each athlete has to reach structural, physiological and psychological limits. In order to perform at these limits athletes need to have a comprehensive and robust skill set, physically to prepare them, each athlete is taken through a continuum of physical competency to athletic performance.
