Sports Psychology

WHAT IS SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY?

Have you ever….

Felt so nervous before a competition that you struggled to sleep or eat?
Felt you and your team-mates/ coach weren’t communicating well?
Got so angry or frustrated in a match that your performance suffered?
Struggled to motivate yourself to do a quality training session?
Been injured and found it frustrating and depressing?
Wanted to be more confident?
Wanted to know that you were maximizing your chances of a peak performance?

Sports psychology is a component of training that works on developing mental toughness and dealing with issues such as those listed above. By introducing concrete training strategies sport psychologists can help you develop (amongst other skills) your confidence, communication skills, concentration, motivation, ability to deal with nerves, and cope with problems effectively.

Have you ever been told to….

  ‘think positive’
‘concentrate’
‘let it go’
‘just relax’
‘get your head in the game’

We can help you develop specific strategies so that you can take control of your mind to ensure you are thinking, feeling and doing whatever it takes to produce your peak performance.

In short, sport psychology is just another part of training for peak performance. Through some specialist input and hard work, we can aim to ensure that your mind is a well-trained and prepared muscle.
