Strength and Conditioning

Strength and conditioning has become recognised as an essential element of sporting success, across all sports. It refers to the all-round physical preparation of an athlete that complements the sport specific skills development of the athlete.

Strength and conditioning forms an integral part of the development of all athletes. Programmes are designed by the Strength and Conditioning Coaches, to allow each athlete to progressively achieve their optimal performance. The athletes' progression is monitored by the coaches throughout the year.

The sporting year is divided into many different training phases and is dependant on the competition schedule. Each phase of training requires a different type of strength training and conditioning program for the athletes to follow.

Each athlete, whether they are in an individual or team sport, is assisted in their physical development through a structured program. The aims of the SINI Strength and Conditioning program are:

Development of correct exercise technique
Improving the strength base of all athletes
Individualising programs to address athlete's specific strengths and weaknesses
Improve athlete's physical conditioning through sport specific conditioning sessions
Improve athlete's lateral movement though agility and speed sessions
Measurement and monitoring of athletes' strength
Advice and counselling on strength training and other physical training methods
Applied Research on strength & conditioning.
